Job Description

The Voorheesville Central School District anticipates a full-time probationary Teaching Assistant position available in the Elementary School. The Teaching Assistant works closely with the classroom and the Special Education Teachers. The position begins September 1, 2025. The salary and benefits are as noted in the current UEV contract.

General Duties

1. Provide support and supervision to special education students, including support with ADLs.
2. Assist Special Education Teachers and related service providers in the implementation of the students’ individual education plans.
3. Revising lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
4. Monitor and assist students in all aspects of the school day.
5. Ensuring the classroom environment is safe and clean.

Job Qualifications

1. Must be certified as a teaching assistant.
2. Experience working effectively with elementary school students with a variety of disabilities and special needs.
3. Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices.
4. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
5. Excellent work habits and employment attendance history.
6. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
7. Excellent references.
