Job Description

This position is a full-time, long-term substitute general/instrumental music position in the Voorheesville Elementary School, approximately 9/15/25 -12/23/25.  The salary and benefits for this position are stated in the current teacher contract.

Responsibilities

1. To teach general music classes and instrumental lessons within the guidelines and curriculum of the school district.

2. To direct and prepare the fifth-grade band for scheduled school performances.

3. To participate cooperatively with the school administration in the evaluation process in conformance with district guidelines.

4. To communicate regularly with parents and teachers on a pupil’s progress.

Job Qualifications

1. New York State K-12 Music Certification

2. Experience in elementary music education preferred.

3. Knowledge of instrumental music pedagogy.

4. Knowledge of Gordon Music Learning Theory, Orff, and Kodaly methodologies desired.

5. Strong accompaniment skills desired.

6. Ability to direct a large group music ensemble.
