Job Description

The Voorheesville Central School District has an immediate opening for a substitute Food Service Worker, on an as needed basis, approximately 3.5 hours/day. The position will be under the supervision of the Cafeteria manager. 

Under the direction of a higher-level employee, Food Service Worker will perform a variety of activities related to the storage, preparations, and service of food. Duties may include but not limited to the following:
• Wash food service equipment, including garbage cans and general kitchen cooking utensils, by hand and machine, using a variety of cleaning substances.
• Wash storage areas, including food preparation areas, by hand and machine, using a variety of cleaning substances.
• Store deliveries in appropriate areas.
• Bring food and other supplies to preparation and serving areas as directed.
• Clean fruits and vegetables, in preparation for cooking as directed.
• Cook grill-type food such as hamburgers and eggs.
• Serve food in the proper portions to students.
• Ensure students on special diets receive proper food and portions.
• Wash and sanitize dining room areas including chairs, tables and floors.
• Various duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications

1. High school graduate a plus.                  
2. Food Service experience a plus.
3. Ability to take and follow directions.
4. Willingness to work the schedule that best suits the district’s needs.
5. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
6. Good work record and recommendations.
7. Background check and fingerprinting (as required by law).
