The Voorheesville Central School District has an immediate opening for a part-time Bus Monitor. The Bus Monitor assists students while on the bus, provides supervision to insure a safe bus experience, and works closely with the bus driver to monitor students.
Position is 2 hours/day, 7:00-8:00 am and 3:00-4:00 pm, school days only
Responsibilities:
1. A school bus monitor is someone who assists the driver in ensuring the safety of the students. Bus monitors should understand the duties, roles and the responsibilities that the job entails.
2. Monitors will also be required to attend safety meetings and participate in training. The training is designed to ensure that their knowledge is up to date with safety standards and other important safety protocols. This includes: evacuations, loading and unloading the school bus and much more.
3. School bus monitors are an important part of the transportation team. They play multiple roles on school buses; they interact with the students as well as their parents, and they may be required to assist with student management issues. The school bus monitor will need to develop these skills to be a successful partner with the school bus driver.
4. The monitor must maintain knowledge of current emergency evacuation procedures.
