Title: Middle School Principal
Anticipated Start: July 1, 2026
Position Goal:
The administrator will be responsible for the leadership related to curriculum, instruction, and management in grades 6-8 school building. The Middle School Principal is responsible for the ongoing operations of their school building, to ensure high levels of student achievement for all students, and to provide oversight and guidance for the administration of all activities/functions within the school.
The successful candidate will report to the Superintendent of Schools and will work collaboratively with all other administrators and staff (both instructional/non-instructional) to ensure the effective operation of the school, achievement of district and building goals, and implementation of the Board of Education’s policies and directives.
Performance Responsibilities:
I. Instructional Leadership and Curriculum Development
- Engage in effective instructional leadership. Articulate a vision for an effective school and translate the vision into goals for teachers, administrators, and support staff.
- Work with the Director of Curriculum to enact Board of Education district curriculum initiatives.
- Coordinate and evaluate curriculum offerings.
- Analyze data to ensure instructional effectiveness.
- Assume the lead role in the ongoing integration of technology into the middle school curriculum.
- Collaborate with the administrative team to engage in ongoing evaluation of K-12 programming consistency.
- Coordinate report card and interim report process.
- Act as a resource for students, teachers, and parents in delivering educational and related services to students.
II. Staff Supervision
- Participate in the selection, development, supervision, and evaluation of school staff.
- Supervise and evaluate programs and staff involved in the delivery of specialized educational programs.
- Supervise and evaluate classroom instruction.
- Develop the high school master schedule in coordination with the middle school.
- Serve as a member of the Committee on Special Education and the Pupil Services Team.
III. Student Growth, Development, and Supervision
- Demonstrate an understanding of the unique needs of adolescent learners and middle school programming.
- Encourages communication between students/parents and the school by establishing and maintaining positive relationships.
- Develop and enact a comprehensive plan to ensure all students have the opportunity to be challenged to their highest level.
- Supervise and maintain a program of student discipline and consistent attendance.
- Monitor the progress of at-risk students. Propose appropriate intervention strategies.
- Assist in the supervision of after-school and extra-curricular activities.
- Co-supervises the counseling program to enhance individual student education and development.
IV. Policy and Facilities
- Prepare the school budget and set building policy according to state regulations and local board policy.
- Serve as the administrative member of the MS/HS Site-Based Management Team.
- Work with the Operations/Maintenance Supervisor, the Transportation Coordinator, and the Food Service Director to maintain safe, productive, and efficient programs.
V. Community Engagement
- Act as liaison with outside agencies to coordinate student services as directed by the Superintendent.
- Attends school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events held to recognize student achievement.
- Facilitate and maintain proactive, positive communication with staff members, students, parents, school organizations, and the Voorheesville community.
Closing Date: February 6, 2026
Terms of Employment: Per administrative contract; twelve-month position. Salary is competitive and commensurate depending on experience and transcripts with an estimated range between $112,000- $130,000.
