Job Description

The Position

The Voorheesville Central School District is in need of a short term leave replacement for a Teaching Assistant position supporting students on the Secondary Campus.  The Teaching Assistant works closely with the classroom and the special education teachers.  Position begins ASAP and runs through March 19, 2026. Salary is as noted in the current UEV contract.

General Duties

1. Provide support and supervision for students in the general education classroom.

2. If assigned to a special education role, assist the classroom teacher, special education teacher and related service providers in the implementation of the students’ individual education plans.

3. Monitor and assist students in all aspects of the school day.

Job Qualifications

1. Must be certified as a teaching assistant.
2. The ability to work effectively with students with a variety of disabilities is highly desirable; ADHD, Autism, Learning Disability, Behavioral Disabilities and Language and Sensory Disorders.
3. Experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
4. Excellent work habits and employment attendance history.
5. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
6. Excellent references.
