Job Description

This is a leave coverage Special Education Teacher position working with 6th grade students. The Special Education Teacher’s duties will include providing direct individualized instruction for students with special needs in the areas of reading, writing and math in addition to providing support to classroom staff in the areas of program modifications and inclusion.  Salary is based on the VTA contract. Position begins September 2, 2025, with an anticipated end date of October 6, 2025.

General Duties

1. Provide support to special education students.

2. Work closely with teaching assistants and related service providers to ensure students maximum success.

3. Develop and Implement IEPs 

4. Progress monitor individual goals

Job Qualifications

1. Fully Certified Special Education Teacher in New York State

2. Teaching experience at middle school level desirable.

3.  Excellent health, work habits, and employment attendance history.

4.  Experience supporting students in general education classroom and resource room setting.

5.  Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
