Job Description

Voorheesville Central School District is seeking Substitute Teaching Assistants for the District. Responsibilities may include:

1. Provide support and supervision to special education students, including support with ADLs.
2. Assist Special Education Teachers and related service providers in the implementation of the students’ individual education plans.
3. Revising lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
4. Monitor and assist students in all aspects of the school day.
5. Ensuring the classroom environment is safe and clean.

Job Qualifications

1. Must be certified as a Teaching Assistant.
2. The ability to work effectively with students with a variety of disabilities is highly desirable: ADHD, Autism, Learning Disability, Behavioral Disabilities and Language and Sensory Disorders.
3. Excellent work habits, employment attendance history, and references.
4. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to be flexible, resourceful, and work effectively with students and adults.
6. Fingerprint clearance (as required by law).
7. Experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
8. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
