      Mathematics Teacher – Grade 8

Leave Replacement

Sept 2026 – June 2027

The Voorheesville Central School District has an opening for a leave replacement Grade 8 Mathematics Teacher in the Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year. 

The successful candidate will engage students in meaningful mathematics instruction that builds conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and confidence. The teacher will work as part of a professional team to support the academic and social-emotional growth of all learners.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Voorheesville Teachers Association contract.

The successful candidate will:

1. Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Grade 8 Mathematics and Algebra.
2. Implement the New York State Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards.
3. Utilize effective instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
4. Design lessons that promote critical thinking, perseverance, and real-world application.
5. Use assessment data to monitor student progress and guide instruction.
6. Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment.
7. Integrate instructional technology to enhance learning.
8. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
9. Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum alignment and student success.
10. Support the District’s commitment to equity and high expectations for all students.

Job Qualifications

1. New York State certification in Mathematics (Grades 7-12) required.                 
2. Knowledge of NYS Next Generation Mathematics Standards
3. Strong instructional and communication skills.
4. Middle Level Extension (Grades 5-9) preferred.
5. Prior experience teaching middle school mathematics preferred.
6. Experience with differentiated instruction and instructional technology.
