Director of Athletics / Dean of Students

The Director of Athletics / Dean of Students provides leadership and oversight of the District’s interscholastic athletic program while serving as an administrator in the areas of student management, attendance, health services, and wellness initiatives. This position supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of all students and serves as a liaison between school programs and community partners. The role includes supervision of faculty and staff, conducting observations, and maintaining effective communication with parents and families.

The successful candidate will report to the Superintendent of Schools and collaborate with administrators and staff to ensure the effective operation of school programs, promote positive student engagement, oversee health and wellness services, and support the mission and goals of the District.

Performance Responsibilities:

I. Athletic/Physical Education Program Leadership

  • Act as the Department Chair for the physical education program.
  • Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the District’s interscholastic athletic program (Modified, JV, and Varsity).
  • Develop short- and long-term goals for athletic programs consistent with District priorities.
  • Recruit, recommend, supervise, assign, and evaluate coaches and athletic staff.
  • Ensure compliance with NYSPHSAA, Section II, and District policies and regulations.
  • Develop and manage the athletic department budget, including purchasing of supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate athletic schedules, transportation, officials, and facility use.
  • Represent the District at league, sectional, and state athletic meetings.
  • Oversee supervision, security, and operations at all athletic contests and events.
  • Promote athletic programs, teams, and student-athlete accomplishments through district communication platforms.
  • Serve as liaison between school athletics and community/youth sports organizations.
  • Facilitate Athletic Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Oversee implementation of the Student Athlete Handbook and Code of Conduct.
  • Coordinate athletic physicals, eligibility, and medical clearance procedures.
  • Oversee the Learn to Swim and Aquatics program.

II. Dean of Students / Student Management

  • Provide leadership in student discipline, behavior management, and restorative practices.
  • Coordinate and implement fair and consistent student conduct procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with building administrators, counselors, and support staff to address student needs.
  • Lead meetings, when necessary, with students and families regarding behavioral, academic, and attendance concerns.
  • Supervise student activities, events, and after-school programs.
  • Conduct investigations and resolve student issues in alignment with District policy.

III. Attendance Oversight

  • Oversee student attendance procedures and interventions.
  • Monitor attendance data and trends to support student engagement.
  • Collaborate with counselors and administrators to develop attendance improvement plans and support the coordination of communication with families regarding attendance concerns

IV. Health, Nursing, and Wellness Oversight

  • Supervise and coordinate District school nurses and health office operations.
  • Ensure compliance with NYSED health regulations and requirements.
  • Oversee coordination of student health services and emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with medical providers, athletic trainers, and staff on student wellness.
  • Support districtwide health and wellness initiatives for students and staff.

V. Community and Partnerships

  • Serve as a liaison between the District and community athletic organizations.
  • Support Coordination facility use and collaborative programming with outside groups.
  • Build partnerships that enhance opportunities for students and families.
  • Foster positive relationships with booster clubs and community stakeholders.

VI. Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.
  • Collaborate with transportation, facilities, and operations departments.
  • Supervise staff as assigned and participate in administrative team initiatives.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

Coaching positions are at the Clayton A. Bouton High School-Voorheesville Middle School. Experience as a coach in a public high school setting is preferred. The salary for a coaching position is based on the current VTA contract and the applicant's experience as approved by the Superintendent.

All coaches report to the Athletic Director. Practices are usually held on a daily basis between the hours of

3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. during the sport's season.

School Nurse Substitutes 25/26

The Voorheesville Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for School Nurse Substitute positions to provide nursing care during the 2025-2026 school year.

General Duties

  1. Communicate with parents and staff regarding health needs and concerns.
  2. Administer medication (as ordered by physician) according to regulations and policy, if needed.
  3. Complete and file accident/incident reports as appropriate.
$170.00/day
Teaching Assistant Substitutes

Voorheesville Central School District is seeking Substitute Teaching Assistants for the District. Responsibilities may include:

  1. Provide support and supervision to special education students, including support with ADLs.
  2. Assist Special Education Teachers and related service providers in the implementation of the students’ individual education plans.
  3. Revising lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
  4. Monitor and assist students in all aspects of the school day.
  5. Ensuring the classroom environment is safe and clean.
$21.74/hr
